About Book

Ionic liquids are a class of chemicals that have transformed research institutions and the chemical industry in recent years. These molecules, which are included in green chemicals such as solvents, are critical in minimising the usage of hazardous, poisonous, and ecologically damaging chemicals. Ionic liquids are organic substances composed of ions that are liquid at 100 degrees Celsius. One of the factors that has accelerated research on ionic liquids in recent years is that scientists are seeking a viable replacement to volatile solvents in the industry. Organic volatile solvents are the primary cause of pollution in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Of course, this does not imply that all ionic liquids are environmentally friendly; in fact, some are rather poisonous. Due to the unique properties of this novel chemical group, it has the potential to minimise the usage of harmful and polluting organic solvents while also participating in a variety of new syntheses. Ionic liquids contain a broad variety of characteristics that may be modified to suit a variety of applications, from biological to electrochemical to catalytic research! However, many, if not all, ILs have a few traits. They are what contribute to the allure of ILs.

This book is a compilation of chapters that discuss the most vital concepts in the field of ionic liquids. It provides deep insights of this area. It describes the structure and properties of the newer ionic liquids used in chemical analysis and examines the new performance of ionic liquids in analytical chemistry applications. It explores ionic liquids in lignin chemistry, new brønsted ionic liquids, hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass, solubility of bioactive, nucleation behaviors of ionic liquids and utilisation of lignins in the bioeconomy. It also focuses on tribochemical reactions and biopolymeric nanoparticle synthesis. It unfolds the innovative aspects of ionic liquids that will be crucial for the holistic understanding of the subject matter. Coherent flow of topics, student-friendly language and extensive use of examples make this book an invaluable source of knowledge. As well as the catalysis community, the book will also be of interest to postgraduates, postdoctoral workers and researchers in academia and industry working in organic synthesis, new materials synthesis, renewable sources of energy and electrochemistry.
