About Book

Once a plentiful natural resource, water has become a more precious commodity as a result of droughts and abuse. Water is necessary for human existence. Water resource management must continue to adapt to the existing and future challenges associated with water allocation. With the mounting uncertainties associated with global climate change and the long-term consequences of previous management activities, this decision-making process will become even more challenging. Climate change is likely to create scenarios that have not been seen previously. As a result, alternative management tactics, such as participatory approaches and adaptive capacity, are being increasingly adopted to improve water decision-making. Water separates our planet from all those that we are aware of. While the global freshwater supply is more than sufficient to fulfil all current and future water needs, its geographical and temporal distributions are not. Numerous places lack sufficient freshwater supplies to fulfil domestic, economic growth, and environmental demands. Additional obstacles to sustainable and equitable water resource management include the fact that many bodies of water are shared across international or intra-national borders. Perhaps predictably, worldwide water conflicts have motivated the development of a significant number of international treaties aimed at negotiating and regulating water resource sharing, as well as adjudicating who is responsible for pollution or other undesirable consequences.

This book gives a comprehensive discourse on the various aspects of handling water. It explores all the important aspects of this subject in the present day scenario. It deals with wetlands for water quality management, economic principles for water conservation, earth observation products of water quality, environmental quality of inland waters and water supply systems. It also explores integrated water management, urban water systems, watershed, water quality management in aquaculture, remote sensing retrieval study, water quality control and tool for sustainable development. Incorporating technological advancements with safety of the environment is one of the crucial challenges of current times. The aim of this book is to provide the readers with the topics which are crucial and of utmost importance. While understanding the long-term perspectives of the topics, the book makes an effort in highlighting their impact as a modern tool for the growth of the discipline. It will serve as a valuable source of reference for those interested in this field.
